Love's Paradox

Months and days have gone by
All amounting to a year
One of great emotions
Fallen hearts
And broken dreams

Deception rolled off on a tongue of acid
Burning and searing, feelings eroded
Flowing freely, enlaced with sugared words
Empty promises unfulfilled

Repeat to me once more
What you said that day
Every other since that time
And I realize the contradiction

Love had befallen me in glory
Then stabbed my heart through and through
Love had then felled me
A paradox of my every thought

Though despite the pain caused
Bitter sweetness envelops the memories
Tangible to my senses
Reminding me that the paradox
Of befallen love
Is the necessary element
Of insanity
That is to keep us sane
