Static Dynamics

Do shifting skies ever change?
From pink to purple to blue
And finally to endless black
Only to reverse upon itself
Orange to pink to blue
Beginning all over again

Does night ever change to day?
For day always turns to night
Night to day, day to night
Over the years, slowly changing
But always always the same
Beginning all over again

Look at the river flowing past
Looks the same as yesterday
Yet changing all the same
It's a different river today
Flowing down, rushing up
No, this river will never stop

Shifting, flowing, changing
Ever rigid, ever the same
Can't you see, don't you know?
Life just winds up this way
