Treacherous Fate

Oh treacherous fate
A pox upon thee
Why does thee mock me
And steal all that I need

Why does thee deny me
The love which I need so
The companionship to sustain me
The partnership that I desire

Why does thee dangle
Hope from thy fingers of mist
Only to snatch it away
When I leap upon it

Why does thee play
This game of thine
Have you not enough of
The screams of a tortured soul

Oh treacherous fate
Do not deny me again
Do not mock me once more
For surely I will come undone
