Late on a star-filled eve
I sit and consider my plight
I am alone and cold
Without you within my hold

I gaze up at the stars
And wonder if you gaze as well
Upon these very same stars
Like I do to quell

To quell my heart and desire
To quell my passion for thee
To quell my fire and drive
To quell my love for thee

I gaze upon the stars
I wonder where you are
I wonder if I should hold you
I ponder the mystery of life

Life can be so cruel
Showing you to me now
After you've been found
by somebody else

I said you were perfect
And you are to me
Perfect in all ways
Shapes and forms

You embody the qualities
I've admired most
in previous woman
I've thought I loved

I really did love them
Even with their faults
I love everything about them
Just like I love you

And in the end
Looks nor charm
Will change anything
Within my own heart

Only spirit and emotion
Brains and thoughts
have any real value
In choosing your own love

It's late on a star-filled eve
And I gaze up at the stars
Asking them if I'll ever
Find another like you
