Alone Again

Without you here
By me now
The night it seems
A little colder now

For love is warm
But so easily perverted
Through words and deeds
Into something cold

All the woman before
Never gave me this feeling
Not with this great
an intensity

But you're not here
You're somewhere far away
feeling cold, as I do
feeling alone, as I do

But a man stands between us
And I will respect his claim
As so often in the past
I've done, just the same

And if I've erred
Lost true love forever
I'm truely sorry
I've let you go

For true love
Is the only commodity
Which cannot be bought
Cannot be sold

It is the one thing
Which should be desired
Above all else
It should be treasured

And if cruel fate
should find you alone and crying
Just call on me always
Say you need a friend

I'll be the shoulder
You can cry on
I'll be the arm
You can lean on

I'll be the friend
you can rely on
I'll be the one
You can trust

For I too
know pain and sadness
I too
Hide them within

Even if I cannot
Be with you forever
You'll always be in my heart
Even if you two are together
